At Selah Seed we care about the families, teachers and churches we serve, and that includes caring for your personal information. This page explains, in plain language, what information we collect, why we collect it, who helps us process it, and what rights you have. We only collect what we need, and we never sell your data.

1. Who we are

This website, selahseedkids.com, is run by Selah Seed, a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) based in the Netherlands. Selah Seed is the “controller” of your personal data. That is the legal term for the one responsible for looking after it properly. We only use your data for the reasons explained on this page, and you stay in control: you can ask to see it, correct it or delete it at any time (see Your rights below).

2. What we collect and why

When you join our email list

When you request our free sample lesson, or sign up for news about Selah Year or Selah Holidays, we collect your email address and, on some forms, your first name. We use it to send you what you asked for, such as the free lesson or a message when a product launches, and afterwards occasional emails about Selah Seed, like new lessons, bundles and news about our mission. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

When you contact us

If you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message. We use this only to reply to you and help with your question.

When you buy from us

When you place an order, we process your name, email address, billing address, the products you bought, the amount paid and the date. We need this to deliver your downloads, send your receipt, handle any questions about your order, and meet our tax and bookkeeping obligations. We also record that you agreed to receive your digital download immediately (see our note on the right of withdrawal in your basket).

Payments are handled by Stripe. You enter your card or bank details directly on Stripe’s secure checkout page. We never see or store your full card number or bank login.

Right after your purchase we email you your download links and a link to your order page. This email is sent through our email provider, Resend. Stripe sends your payment receipt. You need to give us these details to complete an order.

Your basket

The items in your basket are saved only in your own browser (using “local storage”), so they are still there if you leave and come back. This information is not sent to us until you choose to check out, and it contains no personal details.

When you visit our website

Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used only to deliver the website, keep it secure and fix problems. We do not use this to build a profile of you.

3. Our legal basis

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) we may only use your personal data if we have a legal reason. Ours are:

  • Your consent: for our email list, including the free lesson and launch notifications. You can withdraw your consent at any time by unsubscribing or emailing us.
  • Performing a contract: to process your order, deliver your downloads and provide support.
  • Legal obligation: to keep financial records as required by Dutch tax law.
  • Legitimate interest: to answer your messages, keep our website secure and prevent fraud.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We work with a small number of trusted service providers who process data on our behalf and only as we instruct:

  • Stripe: payment processing, tax calculation and fraud prevention. Stripe’s privacy policy
  • Resend: sending your order confirmation email with your download links. Resend’s privacy policy
  • Kit (ConvertKit): our email list, the free lesson and launch notifications. Kit’s privacy policy
  • Netlify: website hosting and storage of contact-form messages. Netlify’s privacy policy
  • Umami: cookie-free website statistics, stored in the European Union. Umami’s privacy policy
  • Google: our business email (Google Workspace) and the storage of our download files. The fonts on this website are hosted on our own website, so your browser does not connect to Google to load them. Google’s privacy policy

We may also share information if the law requires it, for example with the Dutch Tax Administration.

Teachers Pay Teachers: if you click a link to our Teachers Pay Teachers store, you leave our website. Purchases on Teachers Pay Teachers are covered by their own privacy policy.

5. Transfers outside the EU

Some of our service providers are based in, or use servers in, the United States. When your data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, it is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. How long we keep it

  • Email list, including launch notifications: until you unsubscribe. After that, we keep only what is needed to make sure you are not emailed again.
  • Contact messages: up to 2 years after our last contact, unless they relate to an order.
  • Order and payment records: 7 years, because Dutch tax law requires us to keep financial records for that long.
  • Hosting logs: for a short period, as set by our hosting provider.

7. Cookies and your browser

Our website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not show you ads. We use your browser’s local storage only to remember your basket. When you go to checkout, Stripe may place its own cookies on its checkout page. These are needed to process your payment securely and to prevent fraud.

Website statistics. To understand how our website is used, we use Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics service. Umami does not use cookies or local storage and does not track you across other websites. It only collects anonymous, aggregated information, such as which pages are visited, the referring website, and your country, browser and device type. Your IP address is not stored, and the data cannot be used to identify you. The data is stored in the European Union. Because no cookies are used and no personal data is collected, we do not ask for consent for this.

If we ever add other non-essential cookies, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first where the law requires it.

8. Children

Our curriculum is made for children, but our website, email list and shop are meant for parents, teachers and church leaders. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us their details, please contact us and we will delete them.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your data (unless we must keep it by law, such as order records);
  • restrict or object to certain uses of your data;
  • receive your data in a portable format (data portability);
  • withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting anything done before.

To use any of these rights, email hello@selahseedkids.com. We aim to reply within one week, and always within one month. If you are not happy with how we handle your data, you can also file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or with the data protection authority in your own country.

10. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data. Our website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, payments go through Stripe’s secure systems, and access to our accounts is limited and protected.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our website or services change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. If we make important changes, we will make that clear on this page.

12. Contact us

Questions about your privacy or this policy? We’re happy to help. Email us at hello@selahseedkids.com or use our contact form.
